A SUSPECT believed to have pulled the trigger in the murder of Mbombela speaker Jimmy Mohlala has been arrested

The suspect was hauled from his hiding place in Matsulu, east of Nelspruit, and arrested on Monday afternoon.

Mpumalanga police organised crime unit spokesperson Captain Leonard Hlathi told Sowetan yesterday that the arrest was a major breakthrough since they had been looking for the man for a while.

"The man, in his 30s, was arrested in his hiding place on Monday at about 5pm," Hlathi said yesterday.

The arrest brings to 5 the number of people arrested for Mohlala's murder. Among them are two policemen who appeared in the KaBokweni magistrate's court on Monday.

Constables Finish Musa Mkabela, 33, and Dumisani Stanley Mhlanga, 30, were arrested with Rob Ferreira Hospital cleaner Jenny Nomthandazo Mabika, 56, and Moses Mahungela, 33, on Saturday.

They were granted R10,000 bail each and will be back in court on November 5.
