THREE men were arrested in Gonubie yesterday morning for house robbery and rape, Eastern Cape police said.

The men, between the ages of 24 and 25, were arrested in Mxamomhle informal settlement after a 54-year-old woman and her husband were attacked, allegedly by two of the men in their home, Lieutenant Colonel Mtati Tana said.

They tied up the husband, raped the woman and took electrical appliances, a cellphone, jewellery and cash from the house.

The two were arrested when they were found in possession of the goods. They then identified a third man who they had sold the cellphone to.

The group is expected to appear in the East London magistrate's court today for house robbery, rape and possession of stolen property.
