THE cream has risen to the top, and SABC1 Mzansi Fo Sho's So You Think You Can Dance has chosen 16 finalists in an official launch party on Wednesday.

The party was held at The Oxford, a glitzy Joburg club.

After thousands of auditions featuring some of the best dancers in the country, Ashley Beyers, Bonwa Mbontsi, Carl Davids, Cleo Notcutt, Darren Hammond, Gerbrandt de Wet, Jeanette Boipelo Maphafo, Jade John Heuvel, Kabelo Mahlala, Kai Pretorius, Lulu Mlangeni, Nkateko Maswanganye, Shelley Christians, Snenhlanhla Mbatha, Tumie Letsoenyo and Xolani Mthabela will embark on the journey of their lives - live on TV.

Hosted by Sade Giliberti, the second season of this reality television franchise promises to be hotter and bigger - with special guest artists added to the mix.

The show will further be spiced up by returning judges Didi Moses, the brutal David Matamela and the ruthless head judge Harold van Buuren, who last year saw Elizma Wildschutte take the title.

From 6pm to 7.30pm on SABC1 tomorrow, audiences will start selecting their favourites as the dancers start vying for the R250000 first prize.

All Saturday programmes - apart from the first live show tomorrow and the finale on October 16 (which start at 6pm) - will be aired from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.

Van Buuren believes this year's competition looks set to be stiff and interesting.

"All those dancers have so much in them. They have such personalities, and they will bring that with them. They range from professional dancers and award-winning champions to students, pizza store managers and even the head cheerleader for the Stormers rugby team.

"One contestant achieved eight distinctions in matric, while another is a young black BA student who was raised by a white foster family," Van Buuren said.
