TWO people were hospitalised after an IFP meeting turned violent in Johannesburg on Wednesday, a party official has claimed.

"I am not sure how many people were injured, but two have been taken to hospital," said the IFP's Dube branch chairperson Kwenza Mpungose, who claimed to have also been assaulted.

He said the confrontation was linked to the intense lobbying for the presidency of the party - which has been held by Mangosuthu Buthelezi since the 1970s.
