THE Democratic Alliance is to contest four Cape Town wards previously held by the ANC, the DA announced yesterday.

These were among six by-elections to be held in the Western Cape next Wednesday, it said.

It would also contest the other two, in Beaufort West.

The Cape Town wards had become vacant due to the expulsion of ANC councillors by provincial local government minister Anton Bredell, for missing three or more consecutive council meetings. - Sapa
