SOUTH African Under-18 squad booked a berth in the quarterfinals of the Copa Coca-Cola Football Stars after demolishing Malawi 9-0 at Germiston Sports Complex yesterday.

Though the home side have a game in hand, they have already qualified for the quarterfinals after amassing 10 points from four games.

They are second behind defending champions Nigeria, who are two points ahead of Bafana from the same number of games.

South Africa meets Tanzania today while Nigeria comes up against Malawi in the last games of Group A.

The home side opened the scoring in the 5th minute through Mbongeni Gumede, who beat Malawi goalie Enock Matamgadzira with a fierce shot. Kgomotso Serobaruba made it 2-0 two minutes later.

Themba Shai scored a brace to make it 4-0, while Sanele Mkhize and Innocent Maila got one each to put the home side 6-0 ahead at interval

Man of the Match Innocent Maila scored two beautiful goals.

Daniel Mohlala unleashed a powerful shot towards the end of the game to make the score 9-0 .

Earlier in the day the home side trounced a disjointed Zimbabwe 14-0 after leading 6-0 at the break.
