BLOEMFONTEIN socialite Pinkie Pelser has been found dead in her car near the N1 outside the city, Free State police saidyesterday.
Police spokeswoman Annelie Wrensch said people in the area contacted police at about 9am on Tuesday about a body in a vehicle behind a petrol station.
"Police went to the scene and found a woman inside a vehicle with a pipe leading from the exhaust to inside the vehicle."
Wrensch said no foul play was suspected and police would conduct an inquest.
Pelser was in the local news regularly in 2006 over an alleged affair with Mike Pieterse, a Bloemfontein businessman and husband of long-distance athlete Zola Budd-Pieterse.
The Pieterses have since reconciled and now live in the United States. - Sapa
