THE raging quarrel between Cope president Mosiuoa Lekota and his deputy Mbhazima Shilowa is set to play itself out at the party's national working committee meeting on Monday.

The meeting is supposed to finalise preparation for the party's elective conference at the end of the month.

Yesterday Lekota told SAfm that he would call for the postponement of the conference because the party was not ready.

Lekota said he was not prepared to be part of "a ramshackle conference that would see the drive to buildCope collapsing".

Lekota is questioning the branch audit that the party presented last week, saying some provinces were unhappy about the process.

Yesterday Sowetan learnt that some provinces would apply for a court interdict forcing Cope to recognise the branches that did not pass the audit.

But Cope general secretary Charlotte Lobe yesterday reiterated that the congress would take place.
