"Mchunu held talks today (Wednesday) with members of the Bhamshela Taxi Association and its regional structure to establish the cause of the alleged internal conflicts among its members," his spokesperson, Lungile Ndlovu, said.
She said the meeting was called after Bhamshela Taxi Association boss Simon Mkhwanazi was killed at a taxi rank by unidentified people on April 16.
Bhamshela is near Greytown in KwaZulu-Natal.
"Members of the association and the regional structure acknowledged that there were problems within the association and some members were rebellious towards Mkhwanazi's committee," Ndlovu said.
She said four members had allegedly lodged a complaint about Mkhwanazi's leadership style before his murder.
"The executive of the association and the regional structure has requested Mchunu to intervene and assist in resolving the internal conflicts."
Ndlovu said Mchunu had raised concerns about the increasing number of killings in the taxi industry.
He said we now live in a dispensation that requires dialogue to resolve problems and not guns.
She said Mchunu had vowed to remove criminal elements from the taxi industry. - Sapa
