SOME 50000 workers could go on strike at port, rail and pipeline operations after wage talks with logistics group Transnet failed, Satawu said yesterday.

A strike could cripple transport of coal, iron ore exports, distribution of fuel and shipping.

Satawu said Transnet had offered an 8percent wage hike while they want 15percent raise. The inflation rate stands at 5,7percent. - Reuters
