"One guard is in a serious condition while a second has sustained minor to moderate injuries after a cash heist in the Greytown CBD this morning," ER24 spokesperson Derrick Banks said yesterday.
Paramedics from Pietermaritzburg found one of the guards lying in a pool of blood with a gunshot wound to his abdomen, Banks said.
He was taken to Pietermaritzburg Medi-Clinic in a serious condition.
The other man received shrapnel injuries to his face and was taken to hospital for treatment.
It was thought that the Group 4 Securicor guards were standing next to their vehicle when they were shot at. - Sapa
