MAPUTO - Mozambican President Armando Emilio Guebuza has been awarded the 2009 African Gender Award for his inclusion of a large number of women in his government.

MAPUTO - Mozambican President Armando Emilio Guebuza has been awarded the 2009 African Gender Award for his inclusion of a large number of women in his government.

The state-controlled news agency Agencia de Informacao de Mocambique said the Senegal-based organisation Femmes Africa Solidarite had chosen Guebuza for the award.

Mozambique's female parliamentarians equal 39,2 percent and were ninth in the world in 2009.
