The peace and quiet of Legents salon in Sandton was shattered by a group of stylists, clothiers, beauty and etiquette experts as well as a photographer and journalist.
By far the most important member of this incongruous crowd was the winner of the R10000 Revlon makeover, Tsholo Kwenana, an accountant and mother.
It's been a month since Kwenana, 38, won the competition, which entitled her to the makeover prize that also included clothes courtesy of Revlon and Sowetan Women's Club. Kwenana, a club member, was taken shopping in a limousine.
"It's been an amazing experience. I'm thrilled to bits with the clothes and hair in particular. The makeover has made a big difference to my confidence," Kwenana said.
Etiquette expert Doris Msibi was on hand to help her choose the best clothes.
Msibi said watching Kwenana's transformation was a joy. She said even though in most instances she offered advice, Kwenana had the last word. Kwenana said she did not ordinarily have the luxury of spending a lot of time or money on herself.
