Essien, who has recovered from a hamstring injury, should have arrived on Sunday but bad weather in London delayed his departure to Africa.
"He arrived in Angola this morning. He is with the team and he is fit to play and available," a Ghana spokesperson said.
"If the coach decides that he should play, he will be available."
Ghana play their Group B opener against Ivory Coast tomorrow in Cabinda. - Reuters
