PAY channel SuperSport will not screen the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa because it does not have the broadcasting rights to beam the matches in the country.

Clinton van der Berg, the channel's communications manager, said yesterday: "We will only televise the matches in other parts of Africa and not in South Africa."

Meanwhile, the SABC is still engaged in negotiations with Sportfive for the rights to broadcast the matches in South Africa.

"There is a dispute between us and Sportfive in terms of money but we are positive we will reach an agreement," said SABC spokesperson Kaizer Steve Kganyago yesterday.

Sportsfive is based in France and they sell broadcasting rights for organisers CAF. The Afcon kicks off in Angola on Sunday. - Meshack Khotha
