ALGIERS - Rabah Saadane returned for his fifth stint as Algeria coach after the country failed to qualify for the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations.

The 63-year-old, a defender in his playing days, replaced Frenchman Jean Michel Cavali and oversaw Algeria's qualification for Angola and the 2010 World Cup. His previous spells at the national helm came in 1981-82, 1985-86, 1999 and 2003-04.

Under his latest reign Algeria have prospered, climbing to their highest ever Fifa ranking of 26th. - Sapa-AFP
