THE principal of Maupa Primary School in the Mokgoba informal settlement outside Modjadjiskloof has been banished from the school by angry parents and the school governing body.

THE principal of Maupa Primary School in the Mokgoba informal settlement outside Modjadjiskloof has been banished from the school by angry parents and the school governing body.

The principal, Clement Modjadji, who is also spokesperson for the Modjadji Royal Council in Limpopo, now reports for duty to the offices of the Rakwadu Circuit in GaKgapane township outside Modjadjiskloof.

Six other teachers who left the school last Thursday in solidarity with Modjadji returned to the school yesterday.

A concerned parent, who opted to remain anonymous, said only one teacher, the wife of Thabina Circuit manager Tom Kgomo, had remained at the school.

Kgomo allegedly mobilised Mokgoba residents to revolt against the principal so that he would leave the school and make room for Kgomo' s his wife to take over as principal.

The principal and six other concerned teachers had been reporting for duty at Rakwadu Circuit at GaKgapane township since last Thursday.

The parent explained that the only teacher who remained at the school was Kgomo's wife, who has been earmarked to take over as principal if Modjadji left.

Ndo Mangala, spokesperson for the department in the province, said they were not aware of the incident but promised to investigate.
