KWAZULU-NATAL premier Zweli Mkhize lauded the Business Women Association for its commitment to showing other businesswomen how to climb the ladder of success in the business world.

Addressing the association gathering at the weekend, Mkhize said over the past 20 years the association had played a critical role in facilitating the entry of women into the mainstream economy.

Mkhize emphasised that it was the spirit of solidarity and selflessness that would assist, "as we are in the process of moulding a society".

He said the government's campaign of "One Home, One Garden" could also play a vital role in uplifting society.

The programme is aimed at encouraging each and every household to have a garden as part of poverty alleviation.

BWC spokesperson Susan Abro said their aim was to help businesswomen create good networks.

"We want to create opportunities for women business owners to grow their businesses," she said.
