I READ with sadness about the events around the "racist four" and how the rector of the University of Free State, Jonathan Jansen, has withdrawn charges against these boys.

I'm neither racist nor tribalist but I believe people should take responsibility for their actions. Dignity cannot be bought.

Humiliation was brought on the poor women who came to work to provide for their families. They were made to suffer by playful young men who did not have respect for other human beings.

Jansen should have allowed the law to take its course and should not think money can buy the respect of those humiliated.

Let's see real action and general transformation.
