It says it does not matter if you or your child were fully immunised against the deadly disease: you must take the jab again.
Health authorities are concerned over the current measles outbreak and the Gauteng health department embarked on a massive measles immunisation campaign on Monday.
Spokesperson for the City of Johannesburg Nkosinathi Nkabinde said yesterday: "Parents have to get their children immunised again.
"The dose is additional.
"Vaccines do not expire in the human body, but following the recent confirmed cases in the province we have to take a precautionary measure of vaccinating those most at risk again."
To date 940 cases of measles have been confirmed in South Africa.
Gauteng has the number of highest cases at 857.
