A PROBE into Athletics South Africa's handling of the Caster Semenya gender issue has started, the South African Sports Confederation and Olympics Committee has said.

The investigation began on Friday, Sascoc said yesterday.

Sascoc's legal and arbitration committee began interviews on Friday that went on into the weekend.

But Semenya, her coach Michael Seme and ASA team doctor Harold Adams were unable to attend at the weekend.

The interviews would thus be rescheduled. The committee would meet during the coming weekend to complete the interviews, provided the key players were available.

Sascoc said last month it would probe conflicting reports on whether or not ASA bosses approved gender tests on Semenya ahead of the IAAF World Championships in Berlin last month. - Sapa
