ONE of the 10 ANC councillors fired from Thaba Chweu municipality more than a month ago by the ANC has accused the Bohlabela ANC regional leadership of being responsible for the bad state of affairs in the municipality.

Former Sabie mayor Nduna Mashego has called on the ANC to allow municipal manager Isaac Moshoadiba to convene a council sitting that would include the fired councillors.

He said the fired councillors considered themselves as not being fired because "we were fired for doing our job as our only offence was to have attended a community meeting that they claim we were not mandated to attend".

Mashego said he and other councillors addressed the community about service delivery following the protests that hit the province over the past four months.

But the ANC accused them of doing as they pleased, he said.

Mashego told Sowetan that Milton Morema, the executive mayor of Bushbuckridge, who is also the ANC chairperson in Bohlabela region, his deputy Gillion Mashego and regional ANC secretary Mandla Ndlovu were behind the dismissal.

While (Gillion) Mashego and Morema could not be reached for comment, Ndlovu dismissed the allegations, saying Mashego and other councillors had acted against the ANC's constitution.

"Instead of making noise, these men must realise they acted against the ANC's constitution," Ndlovu said.

He denied that he, Morema and Mashego were having any business interests at the Thaba Chweu municipality.
