A CLEANSING ceremony was held at the weekend on the road between Musina and Polokwane to rid it of accidents.

This follows a spate of accidents on the road that have left 148 people dead this year.

Early on Saturday , traditional healers, Muslims, Rastafarians and Hindus performed rituals.

Limpopo MEC for roads and transport Pinkie Kekana, who attended the ceremony, said it was sad that lives continued to be lost on the road.

Many people who attended the cleansing ceremony said they believed the road had been cursed.
