BELGRADE - South African judo athlete Lungiswa Nante makes her long-awaited appearance at the 25th World Student Games today, hoping to brush aside Japan's Makiko Otomo.

Cape Town-based Nante, 22, is a multiple University Sport South Africa champion who only started to compete in the sport in 2006.

"I'm in the right frame of mind despite struggling with weight in the past two days," said Nante, a B-tech pubic management student at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.

"I was not intimidated when I met Otomo during the weigh-in on Tuesday morning. The plan is to go all the way to the final on my first appearance," Nante said. - Ramatsiyi Moholoa
