A MOZAMBICAN national was arrested after driving straight into a trap set by both the South African police and custom officials while transporting a whooping R3,75 million worth of mandrax tablets yesterday.

Mpumalanga police spokesperson Superintendent Abie Khoabane said police received a tip-off that a man would drive past the Libombo border post shortly after 1pm.

Five members of the police and three from the customs set a trap that saw them arresting the suspects. There were 75 bags in the car - each of which contained 1000 mandrax tablets.

Three men were recently arrested at the same border gate after being found in possession of heroin worth millions of rands. - Riot Hlatshwayo
