HIV-Aids has been around for decades, but most people still refuse to talk openly about it.

Communities now have health workers at their disposal, but silence still prevails.

Last week, residents of Magagula Heights near Katlehong in Ekurhuleni gathered at the local clinic to light candles to commemorate people who have died from Aids-related diseases.

"We urged people to break the silence and also to teach others about living a healthy lifestyle," said Sonto Marumola, assistant director of the Ekurhuleni sub-district

"We are all affected or infected in one way or another. It is our responsibility to embrace and support those affected," she said.

The Isibani Sezwe Senior Citizen Choir and the Little Angels Choir entertained the guests.
