I am a child of the world,

I am a child of the world,

And foreigner in every land.

My many roots are spread too far,

To alone, hold weight.

I am the world's bastard child.

I lie lost;

Somewhere between the lands,

My people travelled,

Among the oils their ships forgot,

reflecting surroundings,

Glistering,

Polluting,

Unmixable.

I clutch my tattered traditions to me,Terrified of disintegrating,

Unravelling,

Into nothing,

Into no one. - By Olivia Fiorotto, who featured in the poetry section, for contestants aged between 16 and 19.
