Eight people, including two children, were injured in a collision between two vehicles on the M4 in Durban, emergency services said.

ER24 spokesperson Derrick Banks said two children, aged five and 12, were seriously injured and two adults were treated for slight injuries. The other four were taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The accident happened yesterday between Edwin Swales and Victoria Embankment at 9.15am. One of the vehicles overturned.

The cause of the accident was unknown but it is alleged that one vehicle had crossed the central median and collided head-on with the other vehicle. It was also alleged that the overturned vehicle was overloaded. - Sapa
