The National Education, Health and Allied Workers Union has suspended its three-day strike over the suspension of KwaZulu-Natal department of transport official Chris Hlabisa.

More than 600 Nehawu members have been on strike since last Friday demanding that Hlabisa be fired for failing the address their concerns.

They claim they have been subjected to abuse by managers of Motor Transport Services for a long time.

MTS is responsible for renewal and issuing of licences but it has been beset by allegations of corruption.

Nehawu's Vusi Gama said they suspended the strike after asking for a meeting with MEC Bheki Cele.
