The long-running case in which a Limpopo woman alleges she was raped by her two fellow villagers nearly nine years ago resumes today.

Hendrick Masuku Matlanato, 27, and Tsomi Skosana, 28 are expected to appear in the Grobblersdal regional court on charges of rape.

The case, which was postponed 48 times, has been running since 2000 and today the accused are expected to testify.

The National Prosecution Authority has since blamed the delay of the case to the magistrate's ill health and the appointment of a Legal Aid attorney for the accused.

The accused allegedly accosted the victim at knife-point, dragged her from a tavern and threatened to stab her if she screamed.

They forced themselves on her until the victim was rescued by one of the accused's girlfriend who blew the whistle.
