Three passengers were killed when a minibus taxi overturned yesterday while being pursued by the police in Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natal police said.
Two police officers were patrolling the CBD at about 2am when they noticed a minibus taxi driving erratically. They pulled the minibus over.
While talking to the driver, a woman approached them and told them she had been assaulted by her boyfriend.
While the police were talking with the woman the minibus driver jumped into his taxi and drove away.
The taxi overturned a short distance away and the driver is in hospital. - Sapa
