The Communications Workers Union at the SABC has launched a scathing attack on one of the TV channels' managers.
In a letter addressed to acting CEO Gab Mampone, board chairman Khanyi Mkonza and SABC3 general manager Mathe Mosito-Okaba and the internal auditing department, the union accuses Mosito-Okaba of "gross human rights violation" at the channel.
Mosito-Okaba is accused of nepotism, incompetence and a disregard for employees.
Among the "violation of human rights" the union says is an instance in which Mosito-Okaba told a junior employee not to come close when talking to her "because her breath does not smell nice".
Mosito-Okaba is also accused of having three secretaries, which the union refers to as "wasteful expenditure".
SABC spokesman Kaizer Kganyago confirmed receiving the letter. Mosito-Okaba was SABC2 marketing manager before taking over as general manager at SABC3.
