The South African Under-20 national soccer side looks set to participate in the Zone Six Games starting in Potchefstroom tomorrow after all.
This was after the South African Football Association had initially pulled out from the biennial development tournament for Southern Africa countries.
A decision on their participation will be taken this morning at a meeting of the technical committee of Supreme Council of Sport in Africa.
Sowetan has been reliably informed that the men's soccer competition will be postponed for a week, which will make it possible for Amajita to participate.
Safa wanted to submit a list of players for the tournament but the organisers were not happy because the team's regulars were not included.
Other countries have been using players for their men's soccer selections from schools for this tournament, creating a bigger pool for their Under-20 national sides.
Like other southern African countries, Amajita are in Kimberley for the Metropolitan Cosafa Youth Cup, where they are among the favourites to clinch the title.
A source close to the technical committee said: "There is no doubt that we are going to have the tournament starting after the Kimberley event."
The final in Kimberley will take place on Sunday.
