Great things await 12 of the nation's best community workers during this year's Old Mutual, SABC and Sowetan Community Builder of the Year Awards gala.

The gala takes place at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg on December 3.

Youth-category finalists are Matome Rakgale, Sedrico Husselman and Bongani Diko. Adult-category finalists are Stembeni Vaughan-Williams, Irene Fitzi and Simone Aronje. Senior-category finalists are Sikhonzi Gazu, Elizabeth Nkoenyane and Mary Mhlanga. Group category finalists are John Nxumalo, Caroline Mogoane and Jonathan Schrire.

The finalists were chosen from 36 selfless people whose hard work is leading the way and making a huge difference in education, environmental awareness, health and social welfare, crime prevention, youth development, sports and recreation.

Inserts of their wonderful, inspiring feats will be screened nightly on SABC2 between November 21 and December 2.

Television personalities Patrick Shai, Ntokozo Mbuli, Michelle Garforth and Dingaan Mokebe interviewed the finalists.

Moferefere Lenyalong's Shai is the senior section's champion. Wildlife Unlimited presenter Garforth handled the adults, Muvhango's Mokebe punted for the youths and 50/50's Mbuli highlights the feats of the group finalists.
