The Soweto Rugby Club is prepared to consider rejoining the Golden Lions Rugby Union once the anti-racism policy is in place.

Speaking to Sowetan yesterday, Dali Ndebele, the president of SRC, expressed his club's willingness to return to the union after they had withdrawn last month.

Their action was prompted by their dissatisfaction with the union's failure to address racism in rugby.

"We are prepared to go back to the union once the [anti-]racism policy is in place," said Ndebele.

Both parties had constructive and candid deliberations at an urgent meeting convened in Kempton Park last week.

It was facilitated by Oregan Hoskins, president of the South African Rugby Union.

It is understood that a mutually acceptable and enforceable anti-racism policy being jointly formulated by both parties should be in place before the end of the month.

Ndebele represented SRC at the talks while the union was represented by Golden Lions president Jannie Ferreira.
