"Can anything good come from Venda?"
This question was posed by a member of the Worship House Band quoting similar words used by Nathaniel in the Bible: "Can anything good come from Nazareth? Yet the Master Jesus Christ was born there."
True enough, the Worship House Band came out tops in the Best Musical Video category at the recent Crown Gospel Musical Awards at the Durban International Convention Centre last month.
The awards are aimed at raising the standard of gospel music and included big names in the industry such as Sipho Makhabane, Debora Fraser and Tebs David.
Apart from this the group had also been nominated for awards in other categories.
In 2005 the Worship House Band was nominated for a Sama and won South African Traditional Music Award.
Hailing from a part of the country regarded as "poor" these accolades are regarded as big achievements for the band.
The group has recorded four CDs and four DVDs, with all the profits going to the betterment of their community.
The group celebrates the Lord through up-tempo rhythms, making their music appealing to the youth.
Last year they made their fourth CD titled He Leadeth Me, which was recorded live in Polokwane in Limpopo.
This year they plan to record a fifth CD.
Pastor Dagada, who founded the Worship House Church and band in 2004, acknowledged that the group was able to rise to celebrity status through support gained from Gallo Music.
"Our music also teaches and heals people," he said.
