A 20-year-old man appeared in the Pietermaritzburg magistrates' court yesterday in connection with the murder of two sangomas and a one-year-old baby.
The dead are from the Harding area. They were killed during a visit to the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands at the weekend.
Lindiwe Ndonyela, 37, Ntombifuthi Mbuthuma, 60, and a baby girl believed to have been Ndonyela's were found dead in a house in Dladla's Kraal in Mafakatini just after midnight on Friday. They were hacked with a spade and stabbed several times.
The man was remanded until next Tuesday.
