The Department of Sport and Recreation has put aside R17 million for mass mobilisation of locals to support the 2010 Fifa World Cup participating countries.

"Sport and Recreation South Africa has allocated the money to galvanise our people towards the tournament," said Dan Moyo, acting head of the 2010 World Cup Government Unit.

"Mass mobilisation projects will be implemented through the host cities, non-host cities, provinces, sports federations, community-based organisations, business, various government departments and state-owned entities and embassies.

"Mass participation projects that we are talking about include the setting up of supporters' clubs across the country, not only for Bafana Bafana, but all the 32 countries that will take part in the World Cup and the 2009 Confederations Cup," said Moyo.
