BAGHDAD - A bomb planted in a minibus ripped through a market in Baghdad's Sadr City neighbourhood yesterday killing five people and wounding 30, a security official said.

The explosion at about midday came when the market in the mainly-Shiite neighbourhood was bustling with people, the official said.

On Monday, two car bombs in Baghdad apparently targeting a meeting of tribal leaders, killed 19 people when US Defence Secretary Robert Gates was visiting Baghdad.

US military commanders say the jihadists are increasingly turning to suicide bombers to launch attacks. - Sapa
