The deal by the South African Breweries (SAB) to have Bloemfontein Celtic supporters as Bafana Bafana's choir has sparked debate among the teams and football lovers throughout the country.

This decision was apparently taken by the breweries a few weeks ago without consulting other clubs' supporters, chairmen in the Absa Premiership and the National First Division.

Soccer pundits are angered by the move and have stated in no uncertain terms that the breweries has committed an unforgivable blunder.

One wonders how this happened because the SAB has been involved in football for ages and they know the "politics" of the game better than anyone around.

Chairmen of supporters clubs as well as the chairman of the SA Supporters Football Association, Collin Nxumalo, are upset about the move and have made the bigwigs at the breweries aware of this.

They said the move could result in division among the fans.

They blame the company for dividing soccer and its followers.

They also want to know where the brewery got the mandate to single out Celtic supporters.

They pointed out that at the Bafana Bafana game against the US on Saturday, these supporters were wearing Celtic's colours and not those of the national team.

Some said they were sick and tired of what SAB did.

My suggestion is that the SAB should retrace its steps and invite all the supporters' club chairmen to a meeting and discuss the matter fully.

Maybe all the teams should be represented in this noble effort and their supporters encouraged to wear the colours of the team or country whenever the national team is playing.

I take my hat off to Celtic followers for their support when their side is playing, but are they the only ones in the country who can sing?

What about the supporters of Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs, Moroka Swallows, Mamelodi Sundowns, AmaZulu, Free State Stars and others who have been there for years?

However, Celtic is not to blame, the blame lies with SA Breweries.
