Free State will host the prestigious South African Sport Awards for the first time, over a three-year period.
The province's first ceremony is set for December 7 at the Sand du Plessis Theatre in Bloemfontein.
The coup was announced at the launch of the 2007 awards in Bloemfontein last Thursday.
The hosting of the awards in Free State follows an agreement between custodians Sport and Recreation South Africa (SRSA), South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (Sascoc), national broadcaster the SABC, as well as the Free State government. - Thabo Johnson
