I am extremely disappointed in President Thabo Mbeki for accepting nomination for a third term as ANC president, even though he cannot become president of the country unless the constitution is amended.

I am even more disappointed in those members of the ANC who have nominated him. Moreover, I am disappointed in the ANC as an organisation for failing to see reason.

While presidents in some countries are happy to retire and serve their nations in other ways, Mbeki wants to destabilise his own party and the country by clinging to power. He must go and enjoy his huge state pension and have a national library or some other monument named after him, rather than as a party leader who wants to control whoever comes to power by remote control if the ANC wins the election.

It is gradually becoming clear that we cannot trust the ANC government.
