Nelson Mandela made an appearance at a press conference to throw his weight behind the 46664 Concert on World Aids Day, December 1.

Taking place at Ellis Park stadium, the local chapter of the Madiba-inspired 46664 World Aids Concert will feature more than 40 SA artists including the likes of Malaika, Cassette, The Parlotones, Just Ginger, Soweto Gospel Choir, Jamali, Arno Carstens, Danny K, Johhnny Clegg, Jozi, Louise Carver, Vusi Mahlasela and Loyiso Bala. They will perform with their international counterparts such as Angelique Kidjo, Annie Lennox and Peter Gabriel. They use the former state president's prison number.

While the media were waiting for Mandela, Tim Massey from the 46664 Foundation in London, quipped that he was probably counselling whoever he was with about safe sex.

Boris Bekker made a surprise appearance at the press conference, posing with Mandela and all the stars participating in the 46664 concert.
