MONZA - World champion Fernando Alonso won the Italian Grand Prix for McLaren yesterday to cut teammate Lewis Hamilton's lead to three points with four races remaining.

Hamilton, 22, finished second behind the Spaniard, with Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen third.

Ferrari's Brazilian Felipe Massa, the fourth title contender, suffered a major blow with retirement after just 10 laps of his team's home race after starting in third place.

Hamilton now has 92 points to Alonso's 89 and Raikkonen's 74. Massa is fourth with 69. - Reuters
