A traditional healer and a hairdresser, who are accused of brutally killing four-year-old Connie Ncube and using her body parts for muti, will appear in the Pretoria high court on charges of murder, kidnapping and violating a corpse.

A witness said the girl's body parts had been cemented into the building that housed the hair salon to ensure the business was successful.

Although the director of public prosecutions had earlier ordered that Mandla Ephraim Zulu, 46, and Lourenco Eric Ngoveni, 30, stand trial, a date has yet to be set.

Appearing in the Pretoria district court yesterday, prosecutor Adam Mputla said the state wanted an identity parade conducted before making further decisions.

But because neither of the two defence lawyers were present in court, nor was the docket, he had no idea whether the identity parade had been held or what the state had decided. He requested a postponement until September 6 for this purpose. - Sapa
