ANC deputy president Jacob Zuma could not go to school as a youngster because of poverty, he said on Friday.
Zuma told more than 2000 villagers during a sod-turning ceremony for a school in Limpopo, that he had grown up in abject poverty.
The R300000 worth primary school is being build with money from the Jacob Zuma Trust Fund. The school is situated in Lwamondokop near Modjadjiskloof in the Greater Letaba Municipality.
Zuma said the future of all South Africans was in the hands of the youth.
But he said the youth and children needed good facilities such as education aids, teachers and infrastructure to overcome difficulties and so achieve their dreams of leading the nation.
