The Bloemfontein high court yesterday granted an interdict to ANC branch members to revoke the validity of a Free State regional conference earlier this year.

Judge Corne van Zyl confirmed a temporary interdict granted in February to suspend all decisions taken during the Fezile Dabi regional conference in Oranjeville this year.

Affidavits by branch members contended there was no quorum and that people who had signed attendance registers at several meetings were not present. The interdict rescinds the eligibility of delegates chosen at the time to attend a regional conference.

The high court granted the branch members an interim interdict suspending all decisions taken at Oranjeville as well as the election of officials. Former regional executive committee members were ordered to stay in their posts.

Applicants have seven days to file papers detailing why the Oranjeville conference should be reviewed. - Sapa
