Lucas Mangope, the 84-year-old former leader of the Bophuthatswana homeland, is to marry his 52-year-old fiance, senior nurse Violet Mongale, tomorrow.
The wedding will be a small affair because the couple are "not that young anymore and don't want a lavish affair like young couples", a member of Mangope's United Christian Democratic Party told Sowetan.
According to family spokesman Keabetswe Mangope, the wedding will not be a political rally but a traditional Setswana ceremony.
"We have invited everyone, including the premier of North West, political leaders and chiefs from neighbouring Botswana," she said.
