HARARE - Elephants in Zimbabwe killed two people, including a game ranger in two separate attacks, the Herald reported yesterday.

In the first attack a ranger, Admire Kayungwa, was trampled to death by a wounded elephant in the wildlife-rich Gonarezhou National Park, which borders South Africa and Mozambique.

In the second attack, 53-year old Rogers Dzikamunhenga of Chirundu was trampled by an elephant when he went to fish in the Zambezi River in northern Zimbabwe.

His body was found two days later with his right leg severed and the stomach ruptured.

The deaths are the latest in a string of deadly attacks by elephants and other wild animals in Zimbabwe.

Two weeks ago an elephant trampled a 48-year-old man to death in northern Zimbabwe while his wife and son looked on helplessly.
