A Johannesburg model yesterday told of how her world crashed to a halt after alleged serial rapist, Mongezi Jinxela, raped her.

The model said she cancelled all her modelling jobs after the incident in June 2004.

The model, 25, was testifying in the Johannesburg high court against Jinxela, 39, of Meadowlands, Soweto, who is alleged to have raped 65 women between 1994 and 2004.

He is alleged to have convinced the women to go with him to a sportswear factory where, he assured them, they would be offered employment. Instead, the state says, Jinxela took the women to deserted areas and mine dumps where he raped and robbed them of their belongings.

Jinxela has pleaded not guilty to 271 charges, including 71 of rape.

Reliving her ordeal, the model said she told Jinxela that she didn't have time for another job, but that "somehow he managed to convince me to go with him".

She said Jinxela robbed her and then raped her even after she had told him that she was HIV- positive and that he could be infected.

"He said he didn't care," the model said.
